Time for a fun fact! Lockdown 2012 (a show you had to pay to watch) had 30 wrestlers appear on the show. Twelve of them are still with the company today! One of whom (Robbie E) still has the same horribly dated Jersey Shore gimmick that was horribly dated three years ago. The 2015 edition was perhaps the most poorly lit televised show TNA has ever done. I was a bit scared for the talent, thinking they might run into each in the dark. Overall, it was a mediocre show, nothing that felt like a huge treat even though it was now free. A few weeks ago, Josh Matthews was telling us that Awesome Kong vs. Havok was a dream match. Well, that dream was pretty short and forgettable. It also brought the problem of Lockdown into focus. Instead of the two women feuding in regular singles matches and ending in a showdown in a cage, weve started with the cage and now the feud feels over. TNA could try to keep it going, but Kong beat Havok pretty convincingly. She no-sold her chokeslam, and defeated her in a few minutes. Besides that, we got Eric Young vs. Bobby Roode in under 10 minutes, and Bobby Lashley facing his greatest opponent ever: trying to act as if his acting skills are superior to those of a third grader. He failed that test. Maybe Lockdown 2016 will be better, or maybe its time to retire this concept, and instead just use cage matches for when they matter.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
