Sheamus was badly in need of refreshing in 2014. The big Irishman's character hadn't moved on since he first showed up on the main roster scene years previously, but he was still capable of having hard-hitting matches. A workhorse mentality seemed to follow Sheamus around right before his injury later that year. In many ways, Cesaro was the perfect opponent to complement that. Looking to find his own way after a short, unsatisfying spell as a 'Paul Heyman Guy', Cesaro was out to prove his worth. At Night Of Champions 2014, he and Sheamus produced a thumping effort over the WWE United States Title. 13 minutes in length, the match deserved more storyline context to really help it become memorable. As it stands, if fans were asked to name their lasting memory from the event, it wouldn't be Sheamus vs. Cesaro. The clash is tremendously under-rated, despite the high quality on offer. Night Of Champions 2014 was all about the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar main event, but Cesaro vs. Sheamus is well worth seeking out.
