American Gladiators is set for a reboot, with WWE and MGM partnering to bring the classic show back to life.

Deadline are reporting that the version of the show that was originally aired in 1989 will be re-imagined and brought back for a new non-scripted series that will also feature a ton of WWE Superstars.

It's said that Mike Burnett and his team are in the process of pitching the new series to streaming platforms and broadcasters, with this rebooted concept largely based on the format created by Johnny Feraro and Dan Carr.

Originally running from 1989-1996 in syndication, American Gladiators was later brought back by NBC in 2008 and boasted both WWE icon Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali as hosts. The UK has also played host to a number of re-imagined versions of the show, initially seeing a version air on ITV between 1992-2000 before Sky unleashed another generation of Gladiators onto British soil in 2008. Up to now, there's been a total of 12 international adaptations of the show. It's also been aired in 95 countries and seen a whopping 114 arena tours.

Serving as executive producers of this attempted new reboot, WWE and MGM will be hoping this latest shot at bringing Gladiators back is better than 2018's failed proposal involving Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Feraro, and MGM. That version didn't make it onto the air.
