WWE Raw: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (April 14th)
7. Back To The Well
Once again, Roman Reigns hit the ring for a promo to start Raw's second hour, and once again, he was booed mercilessly. He pulled out the "I'm THE guy" line again (sorry, Kevin), not winning any fans in the process. Finally, he was interrupted by Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Rusev, with The League of Nations soon challenging and attacking Roman Reigns.
Reigns's first title reign, if you'll remember, came to an end in five minutes and fifteen seconds when Sheamus cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and took the title from him. WWE creative's rationale at the time was that Sheamus was one of the few men on the roster with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, so fans would actually be forced to cheer for Reigns in their subsequent feud.
It sort of worked, in that eventually the fans stopped booing both men and briefly sided with Reigns (especially after he attacked Triple H at TLC). When Reigns beat Sheamus for his second WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Raw, Philadelphia fans actually chanted "You deserve it!"
That good will didn't last long, and Reigns has been getting more and more unpopular every week since January. Was sticking him against Sheamus again a way to get the Los Angeles fans off the champ's case? I don't think it was enough this time.
