WWE Raw: 10 Things You Might Have Missed (May 9)
4. The Guy Vs. The Club
WWE may have a huge creative team, but they haven't been living up to their title as of late.
It was once rumored that Vince McMahon hated using ideas that came from other promotions. In Mick Foley's first book, he wrote about how, in 1997, he wanted to feud with Vader in a program that would build off their history in WCW, but McMahon was interested in creating a new story for the men, so they ended up as a tag team.
That seems to have gone out the window in recent days. The hottest act in WWE right now was the hottest act in New Japan Pro Wrestling last year, and while there's nothing wrong with taking an idea that works and running with it, surely there has to be a more inspired name for the Styles-Anderson-Gallows trio than "The Club." Even "AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows" would be preferable.
Granted, WWE's writers probably aren't racking their brains, given that the association is only likely to last until Extreme Rules. After that, Anderson and Gallows can join Finn Balor as Balor Club or Bulletproof or whatever. Until then, we're stuck with one of the worst sobriquets in WWE history... or at least the worst since "The Guy."
