Two former tag partners hold the record for the best finish from a No. 20 entrant. Rob Van Dam and Kane, in 2006 and 2008 respectively, entered at No. 20 and fought to a fourth place finish. RVD eliminated four men during the 2006 Rumble, and two years later Kane eliminated just three, falling short of Van Dam's total, and well short of his record of 11.

As Rob Van Dam's music hit, the crowd erupted, seeing the fan favourite return from a knee injury that had kept him out of action for some time. There was nothing wrong with his knee on this night however, as he stormed into the ring, knocking almost every single man to the floor before eliminating Animal.

After then eliminating Super Crazy (with Rey Mysterio), Goldust, and Carlito, RVD was in the final four with Mysterio, Randy Orton, and Triple H. After a brief, and incredibly entertaining team up with Rey, Triple H threw Mysterio into RVD, knocking Mr. Monday Night off the top rope, condemning him to a fourth place finish.
