That match with Goldberg would never have happened...

Most wrestling fans feel a shiver rocket up their spines when they think of that Goldberg vs. The Undertaker match at 2019's Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. They're not alone.

Elias feels that same shudder, because he was supposed to be in there against 'Taker.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Raw's resident music man revealed that he was the one originally pencilled in for that match with 'The Deadman'. WWE changed their minds last-minute upon realising that they could book something of a 90s dream match in Saudi.

So, Goldberg got the nod instead.

Elias still wishes he'd had the chance to experience a full-blown one-on-one effort with The Undertaker. He also regrets that WWE didn't follow through on a WrestleMania 36 match with John Cena (Eli worked 'King' Corbin as a babyface instead on the closed-set special).

Both bouts against 'Taker and Cena would've been part of a three-year branching story designed to get Elias over. Neither of them ended up happening, which must've sucked for him.

Apparently, said Goldberg vs. The Undertaker match was more enticing to WWE's decision makers. More fool them!
