WWE WrestleMania 42: 20 Things That NEED To Happen

2. Roman Reigns Breaks CM Punk’s Heart

Headlining WrestleMania Sunday in a singles outing is a big deal for CM Punk personally, but he shouldn’t win. Being brutally honest about things, his title reign has coincided with a slump for Raw generally, so the flagship show could do with a jolt to stop the rot. Reigns would have to start showing up more regularly to make this World Heavyweight Title run mean something special, of course, but maybe that’s already been pre-agreed behind the scenes or something.

We can only hope.

Reigns has worked so many returns that it's almost parody now. "Roman Reigns Returns" on a graphic has been done to death, and it needs to stop. Once he wins the World Heavyweight strap, he should be around more frequently to help WWE's 'A' show fend off the usual post-WrestleMania lull that people expect every year once the casuals ignore Hunter's product until next year's Royal Rumble.

Simply main eventing as he is should be enough for Punk, but Sunday is Roman's match to lose. Don't feel too bad for the Punker, 'cause he can dash off to SmackDown and rekindle his issues with Randy Orton and Pat McAfee to help breathe fresh life into that show too.

Roman holding down the fort on Mondays and starting to work towards bouts vs. Oba Femi, Gunther etc should work. It's pretty tasty to imagine new WWE Champ Orton bashing skulls with Punk and the likes of Jacob Fatu (who should be red hot coming out of the weekend) as well.
