4. Batista Gives The Thumbs Down To Triple H In 2005

Following Batista's Royal Rumble 2005 victory, he had the option to sign a contract to face the World Heavyweight Champion Triple H and remain a part of Raw. His other choice was to sign the Smackdown contract to face the WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield. There was more history with Triple H because they were allies for nearly two years as part of Evolution, but it was clear that Batista was ready to break through. At that point in his career, Batista wasn't a great talker. Some might say he never was. That's why what he did on Raw prior to WrestleMania 21 is something that wrestling fans will never forget. With both contracts in his hands, Triple H pitched the idea of Batista going to Smackdown to win the WWE Title while Triple H remained the World Champion. He wanted Batista to go to Smackdown so they could rule the world as champions on separate brands. http://youtu.be/O5RioKQTajo Batista said one line: "I've known what I was gonna do for a long time." He held up the Smackdown contract, they gave him a thumbs up, then he turned his thumb down and he destroyed Triple H along with Ric Flair. He gave Triple H a Powerbomb through the table that was in the ring. The crowd gave Batista a huge ovation. Batista signed the Raw contract and went on to defeat Triple H at WrestleMania 21. The angle was built up very well over the previous four months. All that great booking built up to that moment and everybody involved absolutely nailed it.
