7. Firestorm
As with the previous entry, there have been various iterations of the Firestorm character throughout DC history. They include high school students, Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch who both merged with physics professor Martin Stein at different points in time, as well as Raymond's merger with Russian superhero Mikhail Arkadin/Pozhar.
Regardless of the character's background/personality, all versions of Firestorm are defined by the use of the Firestorm Matrix, a harness-like device that regulates their collective nuclear energy and utilizes it for fantastic abilities. These include molecular manipulation, matter transmutation, nucleokinesis, flight, energy and matter manipulation, as well as superhuman strength, speed, durability, and self-sustenance.
This laundry list of abilities has enabled whoever is wielding the Firestorm matrix to go toe-to-toe with powerful beings such as various New Gods and Green Lanterns and their unrestrained power has even been compared to the Big Bang itself.
