10 Best Moments From Tom King's Batman
2. I Am Bane
While the preceding moments from the I Am Bane storyline are excellent, the moment where the story gets its title is the true stand out. It's the moment where Bane truly cements the difference between himself and every other crazy that Batman has beaten into a bloody pulp.
Bane is smart, Bane is organized, arguably not crazy (or at least not as comparatively crazy as the rest of bats' rogues gallery), and he can meet the Batman blow for blow in a straight fight. Something even the Joker struggles with most of the time.
All of that builds up to Bane and the Bat coming to blows after Bane captures and tortures all of Batman's other allies. The first fight really doesn't go well for Bruce, as he gets pummeled into the pavement by a very angry Bane. All the while Bane chews him out for daring to think that this would be like anything else that Batman has faced thus far, even compared to their previous encounters.
He isn't the Joker, the Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face, Red Hood, Ras Al'Ghul or anyone else that Batman has ever beaten.
He is Bane.
