10 Comic Book Storylines To Link The Fantastic Four And X-Men Films
8. Inferno
With the forces of the metaphysical realm of Limbo invading New York, Inferno sees the Avengers, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Fantastic Four fending off the hordes of N'astirh and Sy'm as well as the gene manipulating villain Mister Sinister, and it's up to the X-Men to face down the villains atop the Empire State Building. Hanging in the balance? The life of Cyclops' son Nathan (who would later become Cable). Inferno is pretty out there to be sure, but if you're looking for an epic threat that requires the X-Men and the Fantastic Four team-up, well its all in the book already. Taking the non-Fox licensed properties of the Avengers, Daredevil, and Spider-Man out of the mix won't even be too much of a hassle, as they're all peripheral to the story. Giving the Fantastic Four a larger stake would only require the threat originate in the Negative Zone rather than Limbo. Again, if the formula is to have the franchises crossover in an epic, city destroying battle using a story such as Inferno would not only make the Avengers' Battle of New York look like a walk in the park, adding Cable to the story would help set up or integrate the X-Force movie which is already in the works.
