6. The Twelve

Apocalypse is destined to rule. According to the mutant Destiny, however, there are 12 mutants who can thwart the rise and reign of the world's oldest mutant. In The Twelve, all the X-Teams are engaged in rescuing the eponymous 12 ( Professor X, Cable, Bishop, Cyclops, Iceman, Living Monolith, Magneto, Phoenix, Polaris, Mikhail Rasputin, Storm, and Sunfire), kidnapped by Apocalypse. The need for the Fantastic Four becomes quickly apparent. Nate Grey (a version of Cable from an alternate dimension) goes to Reed Richards for assistance in defeating Apocalypse. Also, the X-Men are initially tipped off to Apocalypse's activities by a Skrull named Friz. The Skrulls are usually a Fantastic Four accessory, but the warning of the threat coming from a defected mutant Skrull could just as easily be intercepted by Reed Richards as Professor X to bring the two franchises together. The story has the potential to blend the two franchises together leading out of X-Men: Apocalypse. Especially since the Fantastic Four have something to do with Apocalypse's initial rise to power in ancient Egypt...
