10 Comic Villains Who Were Right All Along

7. The Illuminati

Poison Ivy
Marvel Comics

A collection of Marvel's greatest superheroes, gathered in secret in order to join forces to help the world, The Illuminati have a pretty terrible track record as far as their comic history goes - especially Secret Wars, which saw the team arrange to destroy entire other universes without letting anyone else know. But then, what can you expect from a secret cult called The Illuminati, aside from bad ideas and worse actions?

Only, in a sentence that in any other context would be worrying, The Illuminati are actually right. Creating this crucial team in secret feels dishonest, but to have the X-Men, the Inhumans, and the Avengers openly working together would be a media nightmare, and would have only further complicated the matters the group had joined to try and fix.

Similarly, their attempt to destroy other universes in order to protect their own - while morally sketchy - is the exact same thing the majority of these other universes would have been attempting to do, meaning that this, too, is actually justifiable.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
