10 Criminally Overlooked Ongoing Comics You Need To Check Out

1. The Last God

Green Lantern Far Sector
DC Comics

A blend of body horror-tinged dark fantasy with classic sword-and-sorcery high fantasy, The Last God is an incredible new series, from DC's Black Label, that's already introduced the sort of in-depth lore, in only a few months, that you'd expect from an expansive series.

The fantasy genre is known for its deep, immersive mythos and meticulously-crafted worlds, and this series is the perfect example of that sort of extensive worldbuilding, from its excerpts of myths and history included in the back of each issue, alongside a map, to its invented languages and alphabets, not to mention documented etymology, and even printed sheet music for the songs sung in the issues.

This is a stunningly-drawn (and colored) series about a fellowship setting out to finally kill Mol Uhltep - the last god - after it becomes clear that the previos party that attempted to do the same thing thirty years prior, had failed.

This book is haunting, and beautiful, in dark, disturbing ways, oscillating from ominous to gruesome, illustrated with impeccable art. You won't want to miss it.
