10 Marvel Characters Who Became Venom

3. Angelo Fortunato

Venom Angelo Fortunato Death
Marvel Comics

Angelo Fortunato was, like Robertson, only a brief wearer of the symbiote, but one who managed to make a lasting impact during that time.

Loathed by his father, Don Fortunato, Angelo wasn't well suited to mafia life, lacking neither the brains nor the brawn to compete with the rest of the people in the family's line of work. In an attempt to redeem his child in his own eyes, Angelo's father bids for the Venom symbiote on the black market, hoping that it would transform his son into an asset to the family business - despite the obvious risks involved.

Angelo wastes no time at all in bonding with the creature, which immediately imparts to him all the memories of its previous wearers, including both Peter Parker and Eddie Brock. This leads Angelo to the school Peter was currently teaching at, where he then proceeds to murder a Spidey impersonator in a tragic case of mistaken identity.

Unsurprisingly, Peter didn't take to kindly to that particular act and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of the latest Venom. This causes Fortunato to retreat in terror, and the symbiote - disgusted by this apparent act of cowardice - separates itself from him in midair. Spider-Man then tries to save the mobster from falling to his death, only for his web-shooters to give out as Angelo hits the pavement.

In demonstrating what a nasty piece of work the symbiote has been in the past, Angelo's death serves a key purpose. But hey, at least it's made strides to change since... right?
