10 More X-Men Fates Worse Than Death
9. Being Trapped In Space - Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men #1 (2008)
After the X-Men learned the forces of Breakworld were launching a doomsday weapon across space to destroy Earth, Kitty Pryde phased through the device, hoping her powers would disable its electronics. But after entering into the weapon, Kitty learned the interior was barren. In that moment, Kitty realised the weapon wasn't a missile - it was a 100-mile long bullet, meaning the young X-woman couldn't do anything to stop the weapon's trajectory towards her world.
As the bullet was about to reach Earth, Kitty used her powers to phase it through the entire planet, and pass out on the other side. Because she couldn't escape, Kitty had no choice but to ride inside the bullet as it hurled through the cosmos. Because Kitty doesn't need sustenance while phasing, she had to constantly use her intangibility powers inside the bullet to avoid dying of thirst or hunger.
By the time the X-Men located the bullet and freed Kitty from its interior, she had been imprisoned in there for two years. Considering she hadn't slept, ate, drank, or spoke to anyone during that time, one can only imagine how unbearable it must've been for her.
