8. Supergirl Was Once Married To Jimmy Olsen... Because Reasons
The Silver Age is best described as DC's awkward teen years that were filled with unusual creative choices and an unashamed embrace of ridiculous comic tropes. This is best exemplified in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen. The wacky comic run endured for a staggering 20 years and this tenure saw everyone's favourite Daily Planet photographer get up to a multitude of shenanigans with his Superfriend.
One such misadventure saw Jimmy get married to Kara (who was suffering from Red Kryptonite-induced amnesia), or rather got married to her alter-ego, Linda Danvers. Despite having the power to stop this matrimonial sham, Superman opts to stand aside because he believed that the pair were happy together.
This would be fine and dandy if it were not for the fact that Jimmy had accidentally exposed his bride to the Red-K in the first place. It did not help matters that the couple were teenagers who barely knew each other at the time.
Eventually, Kara regains her memories and tells Jimmy the truth about her origins. Fortunately, most of these stories were standalone in nature and this spared readers at the time from seeing a teenaged marriage play out in their comics.
