10 Most Powerful Incarnations Of Superman

2. Pre-Crisis Superman

From the time Superman appeared in 1938 and the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event, Superman went from being pretty strong to being a god. As the Silver Age of Comics progressed, his powers expanded and grew into levels that made it next to impossible for any villain to challenge him.

This created some problems, and Superman's strength and powers in the pre-Crisis continuity became one of the primary reasons DC opted to shake everything up with the "Crisis." Superman was too powerful, and that made for some creative problems for moving the character forward from the Silver Age into the Bronze Age.

The "Crisis" fixed it all up, but before it happened, Superman's power levels were off the charts. Forget about turning the dial up to eleven; his dial was turned to infinity and beyond. In one panel, he can be seen pulling planets linked by a chain, and that level of strength is a bit too much.

During the Silver Age, Superman developed a bunch of powers he only ever used once or twice, and they were strange. In one instance, he could fire off tiny versions of himself to fight on his behalf, and in others, he could shapeshift to look like anyone he wanted. Supes was too powerful, but there is one Superman stronger than the Silver Age Man of Steel.
