6. Mutant Massacre
As you'll find out the further along you go in this list, people in the Marvel Universe really, really enjoy trying to kill mutants. Hell, even their own kind like to get in on the act too as we saw with the Mutant Massacre storyline.
A group of mutant mercenaries called the Marauders, which included Sabretooth, Blockbuster and Malice, are employed by Mr Sinister to take out the Morlocks, a community of mutants who live underground. What occurs next is the brutal, violent destruction of the entire group.
The X-Men and X-Factor get involved and try and save the day, but even they suffer from their own casualties with Angel suffering the most out of all of them. I won't spoil what happens to him but it's a beatdown of biblical proportions.
What makes the Mutant Massacre such a great story is that it shows readers and comic book writers for that matter how to successfully do a crossover story. There are many interwoven parts here, but due to the brilliance of Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson and Walter Simonson it's far from confusing and ultimately a pleasure to read.
