10 Must-Read X-Men Storylines
5. Days Of Future Past

For many people, including myself, Days of Future Past is where we began reading the X-Men comic book. Although I wouldn't recommend jumping on at this point, it's definitely a comic book arc that must be read to call yourself a true X-Men fan.
Once again, Chris Claremont used his weird and wonderful brain to come up with an awesome story about time travel involving the X-Men of the future and the X-Men of the past. Living in a dystopian future where mutants, superheroes and even human beings are being taken out by Sentinels, there are very few members of the X-Men left.
However, they're able to send Kitty Pryde aka Shadow Cat back to the present time to try and stop the death of Senator Robert Kelly, which in her time is the catalyst for the death of all mutants. While they manage to succeed in stopping Kelly's assassination, the greatest part about Days of Future Past is the impact it had on the series years afterwards.
If you weren't a fan of Bryan Singer's slight adaptation of the book, then read it instead. You won't be disappointed.
