10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Deadpool

4. He's About To Die

Whilst he's technically invulnerable €“ there's an issue of X-Force that skips forward 800 years into the future and Deadpool is still alive, thanks again to the healing factor €“ Wade Wilson is about to meet his maker. And not for the first time, as when the character appeared to be reaching a certain saturation point and about to tip over from popularity into people getting sick of him, they did the same. Wolverine recently had the same treatment, and Deadpool's first demise (in the miniseries Funeral For A Freak) was meant to parody the Death And Return Of Superman a few years too late, whilst also removing the character from the news stands for a little while. Apparently the same thing is about to happen and, in this case, it might be sticking for a little longer. Deadpool is due to meet his maker again in the upcoming Deadpool #250, as co-writers Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn €“ who were behind a recent creative resurgence for the character €“ end their run on the book. And it's not just a one-off joke, with Deadpool apparently replaced in his role by his wife (yes, he's also married right now) in the Marvel Universe for the foreseeable future. But don't expect that to be the case when the movie drops and there's sweet tie in dollars to be made...
