1. The Worst Mutant Power Possible

Ultimate X-Men #41 begins with a teen called J walking to school, becoming increasingly concerned when he notices there's no one around his area. Moments after reaching school, J witnesses every single student burst into flames before his eyes.

Days later, Nick Fury locates J in a cave and has Wolverine to track him down. The X-Man explains to the teenager that his mutant gene activated a few days ago. His power causes his body to radiate toxins, killing all organic life around him. Just by walking around his neighbourhood the other day, J killed 265 people.

Wolverine tries to reassures him, saying that no one will know he was responsible because a cover story will blame the deaths on a gas leak. When J says he needs to go public with what he did, Wolverine insists that he can't because "if it ever got out a mutant did this... by accident, on purpose. Doesn't matter. That'd be it for mutants. They'd round us up. All of us."

Even though J was a victim of his mutation, Wolverine knew killing him would be a mercy. As the child cries hysterically, all Wolverine can say is, "Sorry, kid." before doing the unthinkable, and killing him then and there.
