10 Zany Comic Book Movies That Would Send Fans Wild

4. Kid Eternity

Despite being the oldest hero on this list, Kid Eternity is perhaps one of the least well known, due in part to a convoluted publication history which saw the character move to DC after an initial run with Quality Comics back in the 1940's.

Kid Eternity originally gained his powers after he was killed in World War II, 75 years earlier than was originally planned by higher powers. To rectify this mistake, Eternity was resurrected for 75 more years and given the task of fighting evil by using the ability to summon any 'good' historical or mythological figure into existence, simply by uttering the word 'Eternity'.

After Eternity eventually faded into obscurity, Grant Morrison revived the hero in 1991 through a limited issue Vertigo series. While many of the original story elements were kept intact, his interpretation of the character was far darker, as one would expect from Morrison. Eternity's basic power remained the same, except that the people he summoned were actually demons who would take on the form of whichever historical or literary figure he desired.

Just imagine that in a movie. Literally any beloved character, fictional or historical, could come to life on the big screen. King Arthur, Beowulf, Hercules, the MacBeth witches. The possibilities are limited only by the screenwriters imagination... and copyright law of course. These issues would make it difficult to successfully adapt Kid Eternity into a movie, but if it could ever be made a reality, the pay off would be tremendous.
