11 Comic Book Characters Who Underwent Horrifying Transformations
2. Supergirl Melts Into Goo
Since Superman believed he was the only Kryptonian to survive the destruction of his planet, he is often known as The Last Son of Krypton. Many years later, he learned that his cousin, Kara Zor-El AKA Supergirl survived Krpton's destruction. Every few years, writers tend to kill off Supergirl, believing it will make Superman a more tragic figure if he was the last of his kind. In the last few decades, Supergirl has died and re-died more times than I can count.
Of all the different versions of Supergirl we have seen over the years, the most disgusting one has to be Matrix. Lex Luthor created a protoplasmic being and moulded it to resemble a female Superman. This entity, called Matrix, bonded with a woman called Linda Danvers to become the new Supergirl.
If this incarnation of Supergirl was heavily injured, her protoplasmic body broke down, causing her to become, for lack of a better word, gloopy. Watching Supergirl melting into jelly was somehow horrifying and hilarious at the same time.
Readers weren't a big fan of gooey Supergirl so the character was erased from the DC universe and hasn't appeared in nearly 20 years.
