12 Lego Sets Every Marvel Fan Needs
1. Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown (6866)
There have been only two X-Men Lego sets. Both were released in 2012, and both were excellent and very popular. Alas, licensing troubles between Lego, Marvel, and 20th Century Fox scuttled any subsequent releases.
Given the rarity of the minifigs and the enduring appeal of the X-brand, both sets are still in high demand. That Deadpool minifig is especially hot now for another reason: Ryan Reynolds.
No, not just because the films were a smash and ‘Pool’s plastered on thousands of kitschy items now. It’s because the films were so exuberantly…well, Deadpool-y.
Lego remains a toy company, and it wants to keep a squeaky-clean image to match. And so, when a film franchise is all about gore and X-rated goodness, that’s a hard pass for Lego, and that leaves Deadpool out in the cold.
The 2012 Deadpool minifig predated the films, so it’s out there somewhere, demanding top dollar, forever alone. (There were two later extremely limited SDCC releases, but let’s not quibble.)
