8 Terrifying Interpretations Of Comic Book Villains

6. Herr Starr - Preacher

Sentinel X-Men Days of Future Past
AMC

Herr Starr is a somewhat comical villain. He became a fan favourite in the Preacher comic and the line he toes between funny and villainous is impressive.

There are moments, though, where Starr shows what a terrifying villain he can be and, in the TV show, Pip Torrens aces those moments.

Starr is a power-hungry maniac who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals and this is shown in Torrens' deadpan style, which is exemplified in Season 2, episode 7.

In the episode, Torrens tows that line between funny and scary, with Starr masturbating to get out of a chokehold but then also killing his rivals and boss to lead the organisation as a whole. Starr is a perfect villain, both in the comics and TV show and Torrens plays him as a creepy, manipulative, and incredibly intelligent villain who you would not want to mess with. Add to this his complete lack of empathy, and its understandable why so many fear Starr in the world of Preacher.
