8 X-Men Characters You Didn't Realise Had Died
2. Shadowcat
For those not in the know, X-Men comics have changed considerably in the last few years. For starters, the X-Men now live on a mutant island called Krakoa and have built a system that can resurrect any mutant upon the event of their death. For that reason, it feels a little like cheating to call any death in the new status quo forgettable. But Kate Pryde is an exception. From the beginning of this new era, Kate had a problem: all this new mutant tech didn't seem to work for her.
And of course, to comic book writers who can't pass up on the drama, that means she had to bite the big one. In Marauders #6, Kate was murdered by Sebastian Shaw and she was unable to be resurrected. It really did seem like Kate was dead.
But then they brought her back. It seems almost anticlimactic how quickly it all got resolved. In total, her death lasted a whopping five issues, which will surely be a forgotten trivia tidbit in years to come. In the grand scheme of things it is like she didn't even die at all.
