9 Classic Marvel Characters The Punisher Has Killed
4. The X-Men In Vampire Form
When Dracula turned Wolverine and a bunch of other X-Men into creatures of the night in a 1991 issue of What If? Punisher rose to the challenge of becoming the Marvel Universe's answer to Van Helsing.
It was a role Frank Castle has all of the right credentials for, but it certainly helped that he ended up being possessed by the spirit of Doctor Strange, who was killed by a vampirised Juggernaut in this story.
Using round of silver bullets and sunlight channelled via the Eye of Agamotto, Punisher slayed blood-sucking versions of Cyclops, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and other mutants, which is no mean feat considering these guys are tough to kill sans supernatural enhancements.
Wolverine, however, was the new lord of the vampires in this universe, and he proved much tougher to defeat. The tide of battle only turned when Kitty Pryde’s death inspired an aghast Logan to switch sides and help Castle wipe out vampire kind.
