Marvel: 10 Alternate Universes That Deserve To Be Onscreen
2. Mutant Rule (House Of M)
An event that established The Scarlet Witch as one of the most, if not the most, powerful mutant in the Marvel universe, the House of M event saw Wanda reshape the entire world after a mental breakdown as a result of being mind-controlled, as well as losing her husband and twin children.
In the House of M universe, mutants are a majority with humans being a minority, with few non-mutants rising to power, while Wanda and her family, with Magneto at the head, rule as a sort of monarchy in a Mutant Utopia. She also has both her children back as a result of this change.
Many heroes began to remember the real world, however, and they fought to bring back the reality Wanda had warped - including Hawkeye, who had previously been killed, and resurrected in Wanda's new universe.
A dark and intriguing concept, especially given how the Utopia seemed to work for many people, but still resulted in catastrophic changes felt for years in the main Marvel universe, it's a story that would do well as a series or film under Marvel's belt - especially when the end of it results in the decimation of the mutant population.
