MCU Phase 4: 10 Obscure Comic Villains Who Should Appear
2. Tiger Shark
Another potential copyright minefield up for discussion in Marvel circles is Namor the Submariner, who has always been a more difficult case given Universal Pictures still own some of his rights.
DC are approaching the release of their solo Aquaman film, after all, meaning it's time for Marvel to counter with a water-themed entry of their own. Attuma would be the obvious presence to go up against the Submariner from the off, but Tiger Shark would make for a hopeful appetiser entering the aquatic side of the Marvel universe.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hinted several years ago that the rights battle surrounding Namor—and by extension, characters relating to him—were loosening, and one would imagine Disney's recent purchase has only helped bring him back closer to the company.
Tiger Shark has been drawn in different iterations, sometimes as a more human, lean Todd Arliss- his real identity - and but more recently as a bigger, more menacing brute version lacking in the neck department (pictured above).
Former twinkling vampire of Twilight fame, Kellan Lutz, would present a happy medium in that essence, possessing a good bit of bulk but not enough to yet fall out of the Abercrombie & Fitch model-worthy club. Which is nice for him.
Lutz is also a very good-looking chap, which works in our favour here because Tiger Shark is so nefarious and downright feral-looking at times. It just seems right that Arliss looks attractive until those fangs pop out, rather than being totally unapproachable all the time.
Even Tiger Shark doesn't deserve that.
Ideal Casting: Kellan Lutz
