The Joker: 10 Most Famous Comic Book Origins Ranked Worst To Best

6. His Aunt Turned Him Bad

The Joker
DC Comics

Let’s face it, even if we know nothing about the Joker, something pretty crazy must have happened to him for the Prince of Crime to wear that mantle and scare residents of Gotham with his evil, villainous nature. Somehow we don’t think he became the maniac he is on the back of a childhood full of cuddles with his parents and good times with his friends

And in the story Time to Monkey Shine, he tells a horrid story about his Aunt Eunice. He says he lived with her and was regularly beaten and starved, before one time she went full on crazy and decided to wash him with bleach. This not only explained his psychotic tendencies but also offered an explanation behind his pale white appearance.

Ranking Explained: The whole bleach thing is great in the sense that it explains both his appearance and thirst for evil. However, it fails to explain where he learned to be so cunning and also makes him appear weak, something that Mister J never appears to be in later life.

Sport and Film. I love them both. And I'm extremely lucky to write about two of my biggest passions in life. Most of the time, I'm at the Daily Express newspaper writing about football, tennis and F1. But, when I'm out of there, I let my imagination run wild and pen down my thoughts on the film series' I love. WhatCulture gives me the chance to write about the movie industry - an industry I really care about. And for that, I'm extremely grateful. And hope you, if you're reading this, enjoy what I think about stuff.
