Wondering why Marvel are reluctant to move forward with that Black Widow movie? The blame lies squarely at the feet of releases like Elektra, the sort of female led superhero movie which crashed and burned at the box office and left studio bosses convinced that fans have no interest in this side of the genre. Of course, it's no real surprise that this spinoff didn't work when Jennifer Garner was so horribly miscast in the role! However, it doesn't sound like the actress actually wanted to come back for a second stab at the character any more than fans did! "I heard was awful. called me and told me it was awful," ex boyfriend Michael Vartan revealed way back in 2005 shortly after Elektra was released. "She had to do it because of Daredevil. It was in her contract." That actually makes an awful lot of sense. After all, why else would she reprise the role after the overwhelmingly negative response to Daredevil? It's since been said that Garner was unable to ever fully recover from Elektra, and there does seem to be some truth in that analysis. While she's never really had much to say about playing the assassin, the actress clearly hasn't rebounded the same way Affleck has, so must still be regretting signing that damned contract.
