10 Amazing Things Hidden In Se7en
5. Familiar Sets
It’s not uncommon for movie sets and locations to be used multiple times by different movies. It always serves as a nice bit of trivia for film buffs to try and spot when this occurs and tie seemingly unconnected movies together with a familiar setting.
Movie nerds will be thrilled to hear that this occurs with not one, but two scene locations in Se7en.
Firstly, the library which Detective Lieutenant William Somerset uses to research books he thinks may be relevant to his case, is not a library at all. Instead, the production team redesigned a bank set which had been used the year prior for the Jim Carrey movie, The Mask, in which the titular character robs said bank.
Also, the scene in which Detective Somerset meets with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tracy Mills character in a diner may look very familiar to fans of Training Day. Not only was the same diner used for the 2001 film, but Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke sit at the exact same booth that Freeman and Paltrow used in Se7en.
