10 Awful Films American Horror Story Actors Want Us To Forget

4. Vampire In Brooklyn - Angela Bassett

Outside of American Horror Story, Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning Angela Bassett is arguably best known for her roles in Black Panther and Strange Days. But to AHS fans, Bassett will be forever known for her myriad of roles in Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, and Apocalypse.

An actor, producer, director, and activist in a career spanning over three decades, Bassett is one of the biggest names in the media industry working today. However, one blemish on her career that’s perhaps best overlooked is in Wes Craven’s horror comedy Vampire In Brooklyn.

Hitting screens in 1995, this entry saw Bassett star opposite Eddie Murphy’s vampiric Maximillian as Rita Veder, an NYPD detective who’s unaware of her own vampiric heritage. The target of Max’s affections, the pair strike up a bloody romance when she's bitten by him.

With so much talent from both horror and comedy working on this project, it’s a testament to just how awful it is that the film neither works as a comedy nor a horror. While it has since gained a cult reputation thanks its schlocky style, it’s nevertheless far below what Bassett (and Murphy) were capable of.
