10 HATED Actors Everyone Was Wrong About

3. Matthew McConaughey

The resurrection of Matthew McConaughey's career is something that will be passed down through the ages. In the 90s, he stole scenes in earnestly developed films such as A Time To Kill and Amistad. But in the 2000's, something happened and the actor's career took a shameless nosedive into forgettable romantic comedies.

He became Hollywood's go-to for soppy flicks and the cultural lexicon turned on him. Even a show as heinous as Family Guy made a point of tearing into the poor Texan.

But it was all a ploy - as McConaughey has gone on record to say he took the naff roles so he could choose whatever he wanted later on in his career. Soaring out of mediocrity like the phoenix he is, the actor took audiences away with his performances in films like The Lincoln Lawyer, Mud, Killer Joe and even Magic Mike.

He won audiences' over completely between 2013-2014 with his incredible performances in the first season of True Detective, and his Oscar-Winning role in Dallas Buyers Club. Who'd have thought the guy who leaned on everything a decade ago would be charming us all with Nihilism?

And now, there's not a bad word to be said about him.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
