10 Hated Movie Characters That Were Written Out After Fan Backlash

5. Skids And Mudflap - Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

With names like Skids and Mudflap you already knew this motley duo were gonna be well-rounded and satisfying characters...

The twin Transformers appeared in the sequel Revenge of the Fallen as Autobots and then when the third movie came out they were cut for time and due to fan backlash against the two characters.

This was due largely to them seeming like little more than racist stereotypes. They have stereotypical "urban" accents, buck teeth and big ears. Considering one of them was voiced by Tom Kenney of Spongebob Squarepants, a decidedly not black actor, these complaints are understandable.

They make no appearance in the subsequent films and are revealed to have been killed by Sentinel Prime in the comic version of Dark of the Moon.

Transformers has been no stranger to controversy and backlash but Skids and Mudflaps were a step above this and prompted serious outrage from fans. Enough that Michael Bay decided that he was better off removing the characters from the movie, rather than suffer the backlash that keeping them in the series would bring him and the studio.

Whether or not the Transformers movies are good is up for debate, but the decision to remove these characters was definitely a wise one.
