As said toward the beginning of this article, it would be a huge surprise if Benedict Cumberbatch didn't appear as Doctor Strange in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor has said as much himself, however it may not be as straightforward as just Earth-616's Strange showing up.

Yes, this iteration of the Master of the Mystic Arts is likely to appear, but who says it will stop at just him? Cumberbatch has played no fewer than five versions of the character in the MCU so far, but how about a sixth?

Though the road to Doomsday has only just begun, there will still be at least one eye on Secret Wars coming 12 months later. Depending on how faithfully the film follows the comics, and assuming it will be based on the 2015 story rather than the original from 1984, Strange could stand with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom as his right-hand man.

After Doom took control of the remnants of two worlds colliding, the version of the character known as Sheriff Strange saw a choice of either siding with the Latverian, or death. A broken world run by someone such as Doom was better than nothing, and what better use of a Variant could there be than this?
