10 Most Horrible Superhero Movies Since 2000
5. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
After the critical failure of The Last Stand, Fox tried to save the X-Men franchise with an origin story that nobody really asked for, and just wound up making things worse.
For a film made a year after Iron Man, the special effects just aren't up to scratch (insert Wolverine claw joke), and the action is so up close and personal that it's impossible to tell who's who or what's going on. Hugh Jackman, bless him, tries his best in an origin story that somehow offers us no new information about the lead character, and writer David Benioff (now the mastermind behind Game of Thrones - funny how things work out) gives the star nothing to dig his super CGI claws into.
The rest of the cast may as well not be there, and you just feel sorry for Jackman, as well as Ryan Reynolds. Luckily, both would get a chance to redeem themselves, with Jackman leading the way in 2014's Days of Future Past, and Reynolds finally getting the chance to play a proper version of Deadpool this year.
