10 Reasons We've Already Given Up On The Amazing Spider-Man 2
6. Its Raimis Spider-Man 3 With The Amount Of Villains Again
The first four entries of this list all relate to a villain/bad guy who has been confirmed for this movie. And thats not even counting the rumor that B.J. Novak will appear as Spider Slayer inventor Alistair Smythe, or taking into account all of the references to future franchise villains that have leaked on the Internet (more on that in a bit). Sam Raimis Spider-Man 3 had a tremendous number of flaws, and chief among them was that the film featured way too many villains. With Sandman, Venom and the Green Goblin all competing for face time with their various subplots, the movie lacked focus, and the characters became diluted versions of themselves. Director Marc Webb has bristled at the suggestion that his movie has too many villains, asking fans to wait and see how they are integrated into this universe. But what does Webb expect when nearly every trailer and promo has focused on all of the various villains that are going to appear in this film? If Electro is the main villain, why not save the Rhino, Green Goblin and others as fun little surprises for people once theyre in the theater? Thats one way to avoid Spider-Man 3 comparisons before The Amazing Spider-Man 2 even sees the light of day.
