There are some scientists that, despite being clinically insane, absolutely believe they are doing the right thing. Despite the fact they kill people, dissect their victims, or deform people's bodies against their will, some deranged scientists have their heart in the right place.

But Dr Joseph Heiter from The Human Centipede does not fit into this category. For as long as he could remember, Heiter has had an obsession with conjoined humans. Over time, this unhealthy infatuation drove him to surgically attach three people together 'ass-to-mouth', forming a human centipede.

Heiter's little experiment serves no higher purpose nor does it prove advantageous to the medical community. He sows people together simply because he finds it sexually gratifying. With his knowledge and skill, Heiter could've been renowned for reattaching lost limbs. Instead, he allowed his compulsion to transform him into a monster who gets off, watching his victims literally crapping into people's mouths.

Even when chases his victims after they try to escape, Heiter stops to lick their blood from the ground, proving he is utterly consumed by his hedonistic lifestyle.
