10 Sci-Fi Horror Movie Fates Worse Than Death
2. Tetsuo: The Iron Man - Melding With Machines
Believe it or not this film wasn’t the original inspiration for Tony Stark’s alter-ego; but if it was then The Avengers movies sure would’ve been a bit different…
After having the weird impulse to shove a big metal rod into a wound on his leg, a metal-fetishist is then hit by a car and swears revenge on the man who did it by slowly transforming him into a metal man.
The film’s plot is a bit all over the place and incredibly weird, but the horror of the metal/human combination remains. What first begins as just a bit of metal poking out of his cheek evolves into the man’s whole body becoming a mangled heap of metal and flesh - even his own girlfriend impales herself on one of his sharp, ahem, appendages.
After initially trying to escape the metal fetishist, in the end our metal man merges with him to birth one big mixed-material mistake that shares a consciousness.
Not only will he now assumedly live forever as a rusty, disgusting monster but he also is complicit in the deaths of innocent bystanders and even his own girlfriend. He is an endless monster machine destined to share a body and a consciousness with the very enemy that made him this way.
