10 Shocking Twists That Would Ruin 2016's Biggest Movies

9. Harry Potter Has A Cameo - Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 may have been the epic end of the franchise, but boy has Hogwarts not gone away. On top of Pottermore, which allows J.K. Rowling to write endless short stories and lore experts, in the next few years there's going to be a two-part West End musical and a prequel movie trilogy based on a slim book written for charity. Give it a decade and we'll be all queuing up at midnight for the latest Albus Severus Potter book. Putting all cynicism aside for a moment, there is something intriguing about Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find - it's strongly rooted in the developed mythology of the Wizarding World and, set seventy years before the Harry Potter films, should operate independently as its own thing. That distance is the key reason that suggests J.K. (who is writing the screenplay) might not be just cashing in (at least not as much as Harry Potter And The Cursed Child) - it's using the previous franchise as a jumping off point to get a green-light, rather than a narrative crutch. Or at least you'd hope that'd be the case. Given how she's repeatedly returned to tell more of Harry's life, don't be surprised if Fantastic Beasts has some direct reference to ol' HP - a reveal that Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander is really a Potter ancestor or some Hobbit-esque bookends with Harry and his buddies reading the schoolbook. There'd certainly be a marketing boost from having Daniel Radcliffe pop-up in the film or Harry at least get a mention, but profits aside it'd be oh-so cheap.
