10 Things We Want To See In Simon Kinberg's Battlestar Galactica Film

1. Pegasus

In both Glen A. Larson's original series and Ronald D. Moore and David Eick's series, the Battlestar Pegasus also survives the Cylon attack on the colonies. It then forges its own path, before coming into contact with Galactica and the civilian fleet.

There is the chance (as there is with any of the plot points on this list) that a re-do may suffer from paling to either of the other versions, yet the Pegasus is and has been a mirror image of Galactica herself. One potential way of flipping the script here is to have Galactica be the Battlestar that abandons humanity in the search for vengeance, with Pegasus becoming a reminder of that very abandonment.

Pegasus's solitary flight through the galaxy has the potential for an enormous scope of storytelling. Their guerilla style of warfare against the Cylons kept them alive, yet it also lacks the power of a combined assault. From their point of view, the Cylons are an insurmountable force.

While there are few tropes more frustrating than the one-size-fits-all kill-switch in science-fiction, there is something to be said for an attack, on the Cylon Homeworld, by this lone Battlestar. That, certainly, would be worth watching.
