11 People Who Got Paid Insane Money For NOT Making A Movie

6. Guy Hamilton - Superman: The Movie

Famed British director Guy Hamilton (Goldfinger, The Colditz Story) came very, very close to the directing the original Superman, but was forced to leave when the production relocated from Rome to England. Since Hamilton was a tax exile and couldn€™t work in the country for longer than thirty days, he was forced to drop out at the last minute. Nothing mends a broken heart like a pay or play deal though, and Hamilton received his $1 million director's fee shortly after departing the project. It was probably for the best though, since Richard Donner was a better fit for the director€™s chair, and Hamilton€™s version of the film was apparently a lot campier and over the top. And if Diamonds Are Forever proved one thing to the world, it€™s that Hamilton and camp don€™t mix well together.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
