5. Kiefer Sutherland - Renegages
The engagement of Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts certainly kept tabloid newspapers in business during the early nineties; even more so when Roberts called off the wedding and ran off with Jason Patric. Thats all water under the bridge now, but it spelled doom for a movie Sutherland and Roberts were supposed to make together. It was called Renegades - which has nothing to do with the 1989 thriller Renegades, which confusingly also starred Sutherland and it would have been a western told from a womans perspective. The script was apparently great, but when their relationship went sour they understandably werent keen on working together, so Sutherland was paid to $3 million to leave the movie. Renegades was in development hell for a couple more years - where the studio tried to get Mel Gibson to take over - before finally getting cancelled.
