7. The Old Man & The Gun

After Ain't Them Bodies Saints and A Ghost Story, David Lowery has established himself firmly as one of the hippest directors working today (and Pete's Dragon was good, even if it didn't QUITE fit the billing). His next project is also important as the final movie of legend Robert Redford, who will be retiring from acting for good, but that's only part of the story of why you need to keep an eye out for this one.

Lowery has recast Casey Affleck, who is always a good watch andf has Sissy Spacek, Danny Glover, Elisabeth Moss and Tom Waits in an excellent-looking cast. The story is also a great one, following real-life career criminal and prison break expert Forrest Tucker (Redford) and based on an article that appeared in The New Yorker.

Redford's retirement obviously adds a romantic element to the production story, but it's already exciting enough to warrant far more hype than it currently has.
