15 Gloriously Hammy Performances In Horror Movies

6. Nicolas Cage - Vampire's Kiss (1988)

The Movie: After an encounter with a neck-biter, a publishing executive thinks that he's turning into a vampire. The Scenery-Chewing Performance: Roughly 47% of the Internet€™s traffic consists of people watching Nicolas Cage montage videos, because while the man has starred in his share of duds over the years, he always does something interesting and entertaining regardless of the film€™s quality. While people often cite such atrocities as Ghost Rider or The Wicker Man as the pinnacle of his madness, there is one performance that easily tops them all and that is Cage€™s role in Vampire€™s Kiss. Since the film is, in fact, a horror-comedy, it€™s not all that odd to chuckle during the proceedings; the problem is, though, that Cage€™s over-the-top performance leaves you laughing at him. Made over 20 years ago, this bizarre flick was a sign of things to come for the man who€™s gone on to make some of the campiest movies of the last decade. His descent into madness is comedy gold, causing a no-holds-barred Cage to make goofy faces and generally freak out. If the online capabilities of today were around back in '88, Cage€™s hilarious facial expressions and wide-eyed grins would've been killer GIFs.
