15 Terrible Looking 2016 Movies That Will Shockingly Make A Profit
5. Trolls
The Premise: Trolls Princess Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) take off on an adventure to stop a troll-eating giant from ending their world as they know it.
Why It Looks Awful: For one, the troll designs don't even really resemble the troll dolls we all grew up with. Then there's the fact that it's a musical and a pretty damn terrible one at that going by the over-produced ear assault we can hear in the trailer.
Though it's written by the guys responsible for all three Kung Fu Panda films, it's also written by the guys responsible for two of the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. Co-director Mike Mitchell meanwhile has brought us masterpieces such as Surviving Christmas, Shrek Forever After and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
Why It'll Make A Profit: Because trolls are a highly recognisable brand and kids will love it regardless. Also, the high-profile voice cast (including Gwen Stefani, James Corden and Russell Brand) will make it incredibly easy to sell. Short of a disaster, it'll make that $120 million budget back many times over.
