3. The Mortuary Assistant
Hollywood may be showing considerably greater respect to video games nowadays, but as this list has already proven, they still don't always get it right.
Though it doesn't boast a narrative as well thought out as Silent Hill 2, horror video game The Mortuary Assistant did nevertheless seem like an easy fit for a cinematic adaptation.
With the game being centered around a newly hired assistant at a haunted mortuary who fights to avoid becoming demonically possessed, a vibes-rich film shouldn't have been too tricky to pull off.
Yet despite firm performances from leads Willa Holland and Paul Sparks, The Mortuary Assistant film is a stamina-sapping snooze-fest - a deathly dull piece of work that lacks the eerie atmosphere and urgency of the source material, while failing to offer up characters worth rooting for.
Hollywood basically already pulled a similar concept off with the criminally underappreciated The Autopsy of Jane Doe years ago, so you're better off just watching that instead.
